Dear Citizen:  Your city council has not done a good job in representing your interests as shown by this report card.  Very little of value has been accomplished during this past term or the one before.  Our city balance sheet is in bad shape with increased debt and depleted reserves and increased taxation.  Problems of the homeless and addicted have only been minimally addressed. Big Projects are not needed and will result in tax increases and high repayment costs for generations.  Leisure service charges continue to increase.  No net job increases though city endeavors.  Costs of administration higher than many other communities of comparable size.  Council is combative and ineffective with the Integrity Commissioner having to intervene in several instances.  The Mayor has shown favoritism and bias.

Your city has and is experiencing failing grades in almost every area.  What can be done?  We suggest that despite the best efforts of some councillors it is obvious that most have not performed to expectations and our city is worse off than when they were elected to office.  It is suggested that those who have not performed well be replaced by those who are better qualified to represent our interests and to work together to achieve better results than those documented. We expect better results in all those areas identified.  Make sure you question all candidates in the forthcoming municipal election with respect to these important areas of concern and to determine their commitment and ability to perform.

Qualities to be looked for in a City Councillor:

Experience:  Success in co-operative endeavors – ability to work to achieve goals.

Skills:  Ability to understand financial implications of decisions – proven history

Involvement and Commitment:  Recognition and undertaking of community needs and not just wants
